About The Loft

Independence

After your first Check-in, enjoy the privacy and independence of the Loft. With just the one room here, there are no other guests, you will have the Loft all to yourself. It is spacious, at over 50 square metres, with views to the ocean and the Seaward Kaikoura Mountain Range.

Chill Out - or - Do it All

Relax and Chill in this peaceful rural setting. Open the glass sliders on two sides of the room and revel in the fresh air and tranquility. Take a well-earned rest and do nothing, or throw yourself into the Kaikoura highlights : Whale-watching, swimming with dolphins and seals, sunset kayaking, hiking, mountain-biking, to name a few. Click here for Kaikoura’s Cycle Trail Map. It passes very very close by!

Hapuku is where the Surfing is

We are just a few minutes’ drive from the Hapuku surfing beaches. Mangamaunu is a top-rated, right-hand point break with a stone/boulder beach. Meatworks is a boulder beach with a solid peak, offering rights and lefts. Graveyards produces a powerful wave and is best with a south swell angle. And the Blue Duck is an exposed sandy beach break with dependable surf, located just north of Mangamaunu at the Blue Duck Stream.

All the IT comforts of Home

If you find yourself in need of the techie comforts of home, we’ve got you covered. Fast wifi, a large dining table to work from, and full access to Netflix and Disney +. Who said you can’t keep watching your favourite shows while you’re on holiday? Certainly not me.

Perks of booking direct with us

All direct bookings receive 2 bottles of complimentary “White Caps” beer. This is a delicious boutique beer brewed locally by Emporium Brewing. Visit their site in town for some mini golf, an escape room, or just to eat in and taste some more of their fabulous brews!

Breakfast at your own Pace

A simple continental breakfast is included. There are four types of cereal, bread for making toast, four types of spreads, margarine, freshly boiled eggs (from the happy henhouse next door), milk (full cream and light), some edam cheese, apples, and, of course, a range of tea and coffee, including the Nespresso Machine. The French Dresser in the Loft is stuffed full of serveware & dinnerware so you are welcome to bring in your chilly-bin or your takeaway from town and eat at the full-size dining table.

Please note, there is no kitchenette or microwave in the studio (although your host will gladly microwave any food or takeaway for you). We choose to offer a traditional Bed & Breakfast room, without self-cooking amenities. Classic. Simple. Relaxing.

The Night Sky

Out here in Hapuku, we are away from the bright lights of Kaikoura township. The stars and the constellations ‘fairly blaze’ at night. Don’t let the opportunity go to waste, take one of our picnic rugs and venture out to sit in the paddock after dusk and soak up the amazing Southern Night Sky. Photographers, come and stay and bring all your gear!

Magic.

Not to mention Indigo herself - a friendly and interesting lady. This was a delightful stay. I watched the sun come up over the horizon from my bed and then threw open the northern window to admire the pink tinge on the snowy mountains and listen to the glorious birdsong drifting up from the bush in the riverbed : magic.”
